Vulnerable Babies

The Children’s Commissioner for England has published a report looking at vulnerable babies. It focuses on babies under 1 and the sorts of risks they are exposed to.

There were 19,640 babies under a year old identified by local authorities as being ‘in need’ in March 2017. Of these babies 15,800 were living at home.

The report recommends that the multi-agency safeguarding arrangements, being established to replace Local Safeguarding Children’s Boards, make an assessment of local levels of need among young children and draw up strategies to identify and help those children.
