Prevent Community Roundtable – 9th July 2019

Prevent is one of the four strands of CONTEST, the Government’s Counter Terrorism Strategy. The ‘Prevent Strategy’ is to reduce the threat to the UK from terrorism and aims ‘to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism’.

Prevent aims to safeguard and support vulnerable people to stop them from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.
The objectives of Prevent are to:

  1. Tackle the causes of radicalisation and respond to the ideological challenge of terrorism.
  2. Safeguard and support those most at risk of radicalisation through early intervention, identifying them and offering support.
  3. Enable those who have already engaged in terrorism to disengage and rehabilitate.

The Prevent Community Roundtable taking place on Tuesday 9th July 2019 is an opportunity for communities and partners to meet with the senior officials from the Home Office to have a dialogue about ‘Prevent’, ask questions, to better understand and influence the national policy and decision making. There will be a question and answer session following the discussion, and this will be an opportunity to raise your concerns and ask any questions.

The roundtable will be taking place from 5:30pm (with a 6pm start) at Hove Town Hall.
